Dell Inspiron 7000 Series – 89% available (Plugged in, not charging)
I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 7000 series laptop, model number 7373 2-in-1 Laptop & Tablet.
After using it sometime i noticed that whenever I charge the battery at night time the battery doesn’t charge.
The charge status at night shows as “89% Available (plugged in, not charging)”
After much research in the web, i couldn’t find a clear answer about why that is the case. I went and updated System Bios, Firmware. I checked system status and battery status and all report shows up as good. So what is it then.
When downloading firmware, i noticed a program called “Dell Power Manager” in the Dell Driver & Support Site.
I downloaded and installed the “Dell Power Manager” Program and noticed that there is an “Advanced Charge Setting”, which is causing the battery to be not charged outside a working day to extend the battery cell life.
The setting is customise able and the setting reads as below
As you can see, the schedule of the working hours can also be altered.
So basically, if you turn of this setting, this should allow the battery to be charged to its full capacity. However, now that i know the explanation, I have left the settings enabled.
